Margaret L. (Gridley) Giesa, 91

Margaret L. (Gridley) Giesa passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at Beehive Homes in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was 91.

Margie was born May 29, 1918, to A. Lawrence and Inger (Straalsjoe) Gridley in Coeur d’Alene.

After attending local grade schools and high school, she was affiliated with the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Idaho for two years, followed by a quarter at the University of Washington, and then a year at Chouinard’s Art Institute in Los Angeles.

On Jan. 1, 1942, she married William M. Giesa from Spokane, Wash.

She was a 50-year member of Chapter AV PEO, she helped found the original Kootenai Medical Center “pink lady” auxiliary, and enjoyed sewing, art work and volunteering for many local charities and groups.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jim and Jack. She is survived by her three sons, Mike (Audrey Long) of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Pat (Cheryl) of Northville, Mich., and Jim (Donna) of Richland, Wash., and one daughter, Kathy Montgomery (Pat Pickens) of Coeur d’Alene. Margie’s family also includes nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and personnel of Beehive Homes for their extraordinary care and love of Margie for the past two years. In addition, the staff of Applegate Hospice are commended for their warmth and caring.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
