St. Patrick's Day mystery to be performed tonight

COEUR d'ALENE - The 1950s St Patrick's Day Mystery Theatre's "Death Plays A Role," opens at 7:30 tonight at the Song Bird Theatre, 315 N Fourth Coeur d'Alene.

"This 1950s family fun show brings light humor, great acting, a little music and lots of Irish fun," according to a press release.

The show takes place in the 1950s in Killarney Lake, USA. The deceased, the great Irish actress Eileen Sullivan, came to America to star in the play, "Death Be Not Pretentious."

"She succumbed during the last evening's performance as she suddenly grabbed for her throat, gagged and swooned onto the floor," the release said. "Audience and cast assumed this was part of her act ... until she became dead-still. All the cast was suspected of the murder ... enters the brilliant Inspector ClueLess upon the scene."

Veteran actor Mark Hartley directs the show and plays the inspector.

The Song Bird offers an award for the best costume which is optional - either Irish or a 1950s lookalike or the first with the right answer to who killed Eileen Sullivan.

The dessert and show at the Song Bird is $22.50. Reservations can be made at 660-7317 or incnarts@earthlink.net.
