Big award for small business

| March 16, 2010 9:00 PM

Kudos to Jordan Sales and Service owner Terry Jordan, general manager Brian Jordan and office manager Brenda Jordan Evans for being named Rural Lifestyle Dealer of the Year. With just five employees the Post Falls dealership posted $2.89 million in sales in 2008, their second year after adding tractors and small farm implements to the automobile line. They started as a used-car lot on Seltice Way in the early 2000s and have now put Post Falls on the map via a several-page feature spread in the national Rural Lifestyle magazine.

So how about this March weather we're enjoying? If it weren't for many trees sans leaves you'd never know that it's winter. People strolling in the parks, riding on the Centennial Trail and taking to the golf course belie the fact that we should be and often have been shoveling snow this time of year. Another sign of an odd almost-spring is the view of the Post Falls dam. Usually the best viewing of the force of the falls is right about now and the next month or so. With the lake and river levels so low there's barely a trickle spilling over.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, even though a bit of the celebrations took place on Saturday. I saw quite a few of you along the parade route in Coeur d'Alene and snapped spectator shots that you can find on More Main Street.

If you'd like to extend your St. Patrick's Day vibe, the Post Falls Community Volunteers are putting on St. Patrick's Fest on Saturday, March 27 with music by the Celtic Nots, a no-host bar and Irish dinner. Call Paula, 818-1116 or Dave, 661-7777 for ticket info.

Tomorrow Chris Englebrecht celebrates and on Friday it will be all about Kris Storey and Lance Bridges. Saturday is Pam Houser's birthday and the official first day of Spring. On March 21 Jack Crawford, Brandie Beebe Chapman and Julie Billitz join Evelyn Sanders in the birthday round-up. Evelyn is marking her centennial birthday! Wish beautiful Bernie Currie, Tyler Huft, Pam Adams and Sean Harflinger on Monday. Best wishes to Bayview on March 23 for Herb Huseland.
