RALLY: Locals get behind reform effort

| March 12, 2010 6:31 AM

You’re not a lone voice in Idaho if you support health care reform. Plenty of people of all philosophies want a more equitable system and will Rally and March to show their support of health care reform for Idaho, at Post Falls City Hall, Saturday, March 20, 8-9 am.

Local physicians and health care workers will explain at the start of the Rally why the current health care system isn’t working and needs legislative change. People who attend the march will hear accurate and easy to understand information about the problem. The march will also show support for people who work in businesses that can’t afford to provide health insurance.

The concept of the march is based on the group CoffeePartyUSA.com. The Coffee Party Movement “gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.”

Participants should bring their own coffee. In addition to some short speeches, organizers will have a song to sing. Participants will march around a 2-3 block area in downtown Post Falls and may bring their own posters.

A Facebook group has been created to keep people informed about these issues in Idaho. It is called Friends of Idaho Health Care Reform. The event has been posted on this site.
