'Christ in the Passover' program scheduled at Cd'A Lutheran church

| March 12, 2010 8:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Ofer Levy from Tel Aviv, Israel will re-create the traditional pageantry of the Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus' death and resurrection in a free presentation on Sunday.

"Christ in the Passover" will be at 6 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Master, corner of Kathleen and Ramsey Road.

A table will be set with items traditionally used at the Passover meal and Levy will detail their spiritual significance.

Levy, a staff member of Jews for Jesus, will also explain the connection between the events of the first Passover in Egypt and the redemption that Jesus accomplished. He will also show the "deep bond" between the ancient Passover feast and the Christian communion celebration.

"Christ in the Passover" has been presented in more than 38,000 churches worldwide.

"It has been enthusiastically received by Christians who appreciate learning more about the Jewish backgrounds of their faith," according to a press release.

"Levy says the objective evidence of the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and the transformation of lives provides ample evidence that Jesus was who he claimed to be - the Jewish Messiah."

Levy will be available for questions.

Families and children are welcome. Admission is free.
