ABORTION: Backward is in eye of beholder

| March 12, 2010 4:35 AM

Dear Mr. Ferguson: I was truly repulsed by your response to Mr. Holliday/Hollingsworth. Hopefully many other more astute readers of the CDA Press saw the hypocritical tone throughout your response regarding abortion. You claim your opponents are “backward people”, yet how backward can one be scientifically speaking when your erroneous claim that a fetus/pre-born baby is not actually alive? That goes against all that we know about genetics and biology.  If the fetus/baby is not living, then how come premature babies come out alive and not dead? Give me a break!

Besides, I don’t understand why you insist on calling unborn babies fetuses.  So am I to believe that every expectant mother you ever greeted you have asked them what the sex of the fetus may be?  Give me a break!

How come you insinuate in your letter that you know the motivation of their hearts, but then lament that they “assume” so much - aren’t you assuming that your opponents are assuming?  Give me a break!

The bottom line regarding abortion is this: Is the unborn baby from the time of conception a human being or not? Genetically she is distinct from her mother.  Biologically she is human not a toad.  Therefore, ought we not to protect such tiny, defenseless, innocent humans or not?  Isn’t a person a person no matter how small? Please Mr Ferguson stop judging others motives and convince us the baby is not human. You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.
