Gonzaga's Arop undergoes successful foot surgery

SPOKANE - Gonzaga freshman forward Mangisto Arop underwent successful surgery Wednesday in Spokane to repair his broken left foot, Bulldog men's basketball trainer Jennifer Nyland said.

Arop suffered a broken fifth metatarsal in last Sunday's West Coast Conference Tournament semifinal victory over Loyola Marymount. The surgery pinned the bone to expedite the healing process. He will be sidelined approximately eight weeks before he can begin a rehabilitation program.

Arop had come off the bench in all 31 of the Bulldogs games to date prior to the injury, averaging 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He was averaging 11.9 minutes per game.

The Bulldogs will find out their NCAA tournament destination and first round opponent Sunday.
