Children's Theatre holding auditions

Ain't It Good Productions Children's Theatre is holding auditions this weekend for two shows, "American Beauty" and "The Screwtape Letters."

Auditions will be held at Journey, 410 E. Harrison, across the street from Goodwill.

American Beauty is a musical comedy poking fun at the world of beauty pageants. The upbeat, inspiring music is great for girls of all ages. American Beauty is an all girls cast.

Director Sandy Clemons will concentrate on teaching characterization, dancing and scene study during class time for American Beauty.

"The Screwtape Letters" is a play adapted by the popular book by C.S. Lewis. David Clemons will be directing this show in which the whole cast will be played by boys and young men.

"This is a great opportunity for actors of all ages to understand physical comedy and pantomime," according to a press release.

Audition times are 7:15 tonight for both girls and boys who can't make Saturday's audition.

Girls will audition 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Boys will audition 12:30 -2:30 p.m. Saturday. You must be enrolled in the AIGP Children's Theatre classes in order to audition.

"Everyone does get cast," the release said. "The auditions are solely for casting purposes,"
