Utah State coach reprimanded by WAC

LOGAN, Utah - The Western Athletic Conference reprimanded Utah State coach Stew Morrill for yelling at a New Mexico State player during a game last week.

Morrill shouted at New Mexico State's Jahmar Young after he dived on a Utah State player while going for a loose ball in Utah State's win on Saturday. The WAC says Morrill's language was provocative and violated the league's sportsmanship rules.

Morrill issued a statement saying his comments were inappropriate and he made a mistake. He says Young got a technical foul for the situation and Morrill has been reprimanded. In his words, "that should cover it."

The Aggies are the No. 1 seed in the WAC tournament in Reno, Nev., and play Boise State today.

Cougar football game vs. California moved to Nov. 6

The Pacific-10 Conference Directors of Athletics have unanimously approved amendments to the 2010 football schedule, one of which involves this year's Cougar football game against California. That game has been moved ahead two weeks to Nov. 6.

The game was originally scheduled for Nov. 20 in Pullman, the weekend prior to Thanksgiving Break at Washington State. Moving the game two weeks earlier, to a date both universities previously had open, allows greater opportunity for Cougar fans and students to be in attendance, WSU officials said.

The Cougars begin spring practice March 25.
