Harrison council to deliberate Powderhorn plans

Tonight the Harrison City Council will begin deliberations on the development agreement that is tied to Powderhorn Ranch LLC's application for annexation.

The deliberations will follow a written public comment period on the document that wraps up at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Council members had requested after a Feb. 25 hearing that Powderhorn write a new draft of the agreement for council members to review.

The Seattle-based company has applied for the city to annex and rezone the company's roughly 2,000 acres on Powderhorn Peninsula.

A date for deliberations on the annexation itself has yet to be set.

The deliberations on the development agreement will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the EMT building in Harrison.

Fundraiser to help girl with lymphoma

A fundraiser to help an 18-year-old girl with lymphoma is coming up this month.

Carissa Outen, a student at North Central High School in Spokane who works at local Albertsons, was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2008.

Friends said although she underwent treatment and was in remission for nearly a year, she has recently relapsed and is again battling for her life.

"Because of Carissa's courage, strong heart and soul Center Partners has joined the fight and is collaborating efforts to help offset expenses during these difficult times," according to a press release.

Carissa's medical care plan will include several trips to Seattle for treatments and a bone marrow transplant. The funds and donations generated at Center Partners will help the family with living and traveling expenses.

Center Partners is hosting a yard sale, March 20 and 21 at 1201 W. Ironwood Drive, Coeur d'Alene, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the main parking lot. Hot dogs, chips and soda will be available for purchase as well as a bake sale.

There will also be a silent auction. Items will be donated by local businesses and members of our community. Donations will be accepted at American West Bank.
