AARP Tax-Aide program starts

The free service for low- to moderate-income taxpayers has more than 50 volunteers to help people with tax returns.

AARP's main site is at the north end of the Silver Lake Mall. It is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Other sites and days of operation are:

n Lake City Senior Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Appointments: 667-4628

n Lutheran Church of the Master: Ramsey and Kathleen, Friday and Saturday, open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for walk-ins.

n Post Falls Senior Center, 1205 E. Third Ave., Tuesday and Thursday, appointments, 773-9582

n Rathdrum Senior Center, 8037 Montana, Tuesday and Thursday, appointments, 773-9582

n Athol Community Center, Highway 54 and Third Street, Monday, 683-2407

Those coming to AARP for tax help should bring a Social Security card and those of their children, picture identification, your 2008 return and all of your 2009 income documents such as W2s and 1099s. It is not necessary to be a member of AARP to use the free tax service.
