Cd'A ad firm wins 14 Addys

Blue541, a Coeur d'Alene advertising and PR firm, has won 14 gold and silver local Addy awards, including the coveted Best of Division award. The Addys were handed out in a ceremony last Friday at The Lincoln Center in Spokane.

The awards are for design, writing, radio commercials and Web work for clients including Dover Bay, Westslope Properties, Bonsai Bistro, Yacht Club Sales and Service, CdA Magazine and The Ridge.

Blue541 won the Best of Division for a design layout titled "Marvelous Pat McManus" for the Winter 2009 issue of CdA Magazine. The magazine also won an award for cover design.

The Addys are the world's largest advertising competition, with more than 60,000 entries every year. All of Blue541's award-winning entries are qualified to move on to judging at the regional, and possibly national, levels.

J-U-B Engineers recognized

J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. of Coeur d'Alene received the 1st Place Award for the Transportation category in the midtown project in Coeur d'Alene.

J-U-B accepted the award at the American Council of Engineering Companies 2010 Engineering Excellence Awards for work on the Midtown Revitalization EEA Awards luncheon Monday at the Grove Hotel in Boise.

Locally, Chris Bosley, P.E. gave a placemaking presentation on March 3 at the 61st Annual Road Builders Clinic, highlighting the success of the Midtown Revitalization Project.

The project, which was completed in October 2009, went above and beyond road construction to create a unique identity for the Midtown community. The "funky and eclectic" theme that the business owners asked for sets this community apart from downtown Coeur d'Alene. Wide, decorative, pedestrian-friendly sidewalks; bike racks that function as public art; raised, patterned, concrete paver intersections; and prominent, one-of-a-kind bus shelters create a unique identity that is inviting to the community. The raised intersections and curb bulb-outs effectively calm traffic to create a friendly atmosphere for customers to support the local businesses.

Westslope Properties becomes licensed brokerage

Westslope Properties is now licensed in Idaho, Oregon and Washington States as a real estate brokerage.

The Idaho office of Westslope, located in Coeur d'Alene, is now a fully qualified brokerage firm that will exclusively broker the sale of its own forestland properties. The company's offices in Medford, Monmouth and LaGrande, Ore. and Colville, Wash., were also recently licensed as brokerages.

Kevin Boling, Westslope's western director of land transactions, has been named designated broker for the Idaho office, Jim Lemieux, the company's Idaho real estate manager, is associate broker, and Kathy Edlund is the licensed real estate administrative assistant.

Bob Anderson, real estate manager of the company's Colville office, has also been named as designated broker.

"Obtaining the licensed brokerage designation is a significant step for Westslope," Boling said. "We believe North Idaho and eastern Washington are once again on the cusp of some incredible growth and progress, so being able to market our properties to the public and through professional realtors will allow us to be a positive influence on that growth."

Boling and Lemieux are foresters, allowing them to provide a more detailed level of information about each parcel of forestland. This would include data concerning timber values, forest management practices, and highest and best use of the land. Additionally, Westslope has established strategic partnerships with organizations like Farm Credit Bank to provide clients with access to financing.

"As brokers and foresters, we can convey information about property history, timber quality, recreational possibilities, and forest management potential that few others in rural forestland markets can provide," Boling said. "This makes for a more detailed, seamless transaction process for the real estate industry and our clients."

The local offices for the company are located at 687 W. Canfield in Coeur d'Alene. The Web site for the company is westslopeproperties.com.
