Yoshida ties for 2nd at Clarkston Invite
CLARKSTON, Wash. - Lewis and Clark's Justin Haase hit a hole-in-one on the way to a one-over 73, earning medalist honors in the Clarkston Invite on Monday at the Clarkston Country Club.
Jayce Yoshida shot a three-over 75 to tie for second medalist for Post Falls.
"The conditions weren't that good on Monday," Post Falls coach Craig Newton said. "It started to rain and the wind picked up and it made it tough out there."
Coeur d'Alene finished with a team score of 329, led by Andrew Roller with a five-over 79.
"I'm kind of disappointed," Coeur d'Alene coach Bryan Duncan said. "I thought we'd shoot better. We've got a long way to go. It's a start, but not the start we're looking for."
In the girls tournament at Quail Ridge Golf Course, Rachel Westby of Post Falls shot an 88 as the Trojans finished as a team at 389.
Ashley Eachon had a 107 for Lake City and freshman Kylie Skipper a 112 for the Timberwolves, who finished with a 460.
"I didn't think we played too bad for the first time out," Lake City girls coach Sarah Christensen said. "We've been able to get out on our home course a few times. Kylie (Skipper) played very well on Monday. I wasn't even sure she'd played 18 holes before. It was raining and cold today compared to the 55-degrees and sunny we've had lately. Overall, I thought we did pretty well."
