Timberline progress continues

Timberline Resources Corp. said Monday that the underground ramp at its Butte Highlands Gold Project is steadily moving forward and has been advanced about 300 feet from the portal.

Small Mine Development, the mine development contractor, continues to assemble the required infrastructure at the project and refine the mine engineering. The decline, which measures about 16 feet by 16 feet, will be used to access the mineralized area for in-fill and definition drilling, as well as future mining. The drilling is expected to begin by June 2010.

Timberline's application for the hard rock operating permit is also moving ahead with the inclusion of specific mining and environmental mitigation details. Klepfer Mining Services is writing the application, and Timberline management expects that it will be submitted later this month.

Tax copies free at Staples

For the sixth straight year, Staples will offer free copies of tax returns this filing season. This spring, Staples will provide 30 pages of free tax return copies (15 double-sided sheets). Coeur d'Alene Staples Copy & Print Centers will provide free copies of tax returns one week earlier, starting on March 27 and continuing through tax-filing day on April 15.

The local Staples store is located at 206 Ironwood Drive.

"We know the tax filing season can be stressful, and we're here to make it easy for customers to lessen the time and energy it takes to prepare, file and save all of the necessary documents," said John Burke, senior vice president of business services at Staples. "Staples makes tax time easy by providing great customer service at our convenient retail locations, easy navigation on Staples.com, and several opportunities to save with deals on products and free copies of tax returns."

To help customers with their tax-related questions, Staples.com has teamed up with tax expert, Barbara Weltman, an experienced source on tax, financial and legal matters that concern entrepreneurs and small business owners. Visitors to Staples.com can ask specific questions via the "ask the expert" tool while also finding popular tax-related frequently asked questions, including information on what qualifies as a business write-off and/or expense, and how-tos on deducting medical insurance premiums.

"Many Americans have simple questions about their tax returns, but they often don't know where to turn when it comes to finding the right answers," Weltman said. "By teaming up with Staples, our goal is to help provide information to customers to ensure they are aware of all of the deductions applicable to their business and that they successfully and accurately complete their tax returns on time."

Experts recommend keeping hard-copies of tax returns for at least three years.
