FARRAGUT: Visitors fee is unreasonable

| March 7, 2010 10:33 AM

We were at Farragut a couple of weeks ago and experienced the same greeting as Mrs. Ellis did.

Every spring that’s the first place we go to take our family camping. We were there to check out the camp grounds to see how long it would be before we could go camping; we were approached by a park ranger telling us we had to pay the $5 fee. Also we were not getting out of our car at all; we were just looking.

Since 1964 we have vacationed at the park several times a year. We’ve had some parties for family birthdays. We’ve had big barbecues there over the years, but no more!

We never had any problem paying their fees when we were using the facilities, but when you just drive in to look — no way. We’ll be looking for another park that is people friendly.
