Jeanne Audrey Kienow

| March 6, 2010 3:46 AM

Jeanne Audrey Kienow was born to Harold and Myrtle Ludvigson on Aug. 20, 1928, in St. James, Minn. On March 3, 2010, she went home in peace to her Lord Jesus whom she loved.

She graduated from St. James High School, Class of 1946, where she was Home Coming Queen and had many close friendships. In 2006 she attended her 60th year reunion. After high school, she began a secretarial career working for Archer Daniels Midland Company in her hometown where she met her husband.

On Oct. 12, 1947, she married Erich Kienow in Marshall, Minn. Jeanne was married to Erich for 62 years.

In 1962, Jeanne and Erich purchased “The Lake House” at Rockford Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene using it every summer through 1978. At that time it became their permanent home and sanctuary where friends and family loved to visit.

At age 55 Jeanne began a new career as a cosmetologist. She spend almost 10 years enjoying styling and cutting hair but mostly enjoyed being able to show love through this gift of service.  Later after her children where grown she began working as the Head Receptionist at Hayden Lake Country Club. She spent 26 years greeting members with enthusiasm and charm, genuinely welcoming them as if it were her own home.

Jeanne loved to learn and never wanted to stop trying new things. She was very passionate about all forms of music, participated in the church bell choir and eventually took up the African drums. Every form of music excited her soul and she attended a variety of concerts regularly. Her other activities over the past decade included country line dancing and volunteering at the Iditarod in Alaska.

Throughout her life she continued to care for her family and friends needs above her own in all circumstances and was known for her selflessness and generosity. The family “Lake House” was a refuge and joy to the lucky few to spend time there with her. Her heart’s desire was to reach others in need of recovery from addiction as this had affected her throughout her life. Because of this the family would greatly appreciate donations to “Good Samaritan Rehabilitation,” 901 E. Best Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

Jeanne was preceded in death by both her parents and two siblings, Dr. Harold W. Ludvigson and Jeannette I. Hartke. Survivors include her loving husband, Erich P. Kienow, and five children, Paula J. Woordruff, Alexis (Helen) Priest, David E. Kienow, Carol J. Barnes and Trish Kienow Leavitt. She also loved and cherished nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Candlelight Christian Fellowship (Dalton and Highway 95), followed by a celebration of her life at 4 p.m. at the Hayden Lake Country Club.

Condolences may be sent to the family at 10201 N. Gibson, Hayden ID 83835.
