NIC Foundation's 'really big' fundraiser to start

| March 4, 2010 8:00 PM

The North Idaho College Foundation's Really BIG Raffle will kick into high gear as regional outlets begin selling tickets for the drawing to win the 2010 "green" home valued this year at $265,000.

Only 5,000 tickets will be sold prior to the July 14 drawing at $100 each. In addition to the home, other major prizes will include a $20,000 car, a $10,000 boat, a $3,500 vacation package and a $2,000 shopping spree.

This year's house is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom craftsman home under construction at 2880 Marceille Drive in Greenstone's Coeur d'Alene Place neighborhood. It will be the carpentry program's first ENERGY STAR qualified and certified "green" home. Special features include multiple energy efficient extras as well as granite kitchen counters, a gas fireplace, heat pump, master retreat with jetted tub, covered front porch and a full landscaping package with stone paver patio.

Tickets can be purchased at North Idaho outlets including Super 1 Foods, Trading Company Stores in Post Falls, Stein's IGA, Stein's Family Foods, Stock Building Supply, RDI Heating and Cooling, Lake City Ford, Sandpoint Furniture, the NIC Workforce Training Center and the NIC Foundation Office. Those that purchase tickets on or before May 31 also qualify for early bird prizes, a $500 grocery card and a bed and breakfast getaway.

This marks the 17th year of NIC's largest annual fundraiser, which is a collaboration between volunteers, sponsors, community supporters and NIC's carpentry students, who utilize the construction of the house as a working laboratory for the carpentry program.

The raffle is sponsored in part this year by title sponsors Stock Building Supply of Coeur d'Alene and Greenstone Homes and Neighborhoods and major sponsor RDI Heating and Cooling. All proceeds support student and program needs at North Idaho College.
