Wine Cellar up for grabs
Three months after an ownership dispute was settled and The Wine Cellar reopened, the downtown restaurant has been put on the market.
Rick Gunther, commercial agent at Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty, said Thursday the family trust that owns the business and building listed it for $1.35 million.
"It includes what you see," he said. "A turnkey operation, the building, the Wine Cellar, it all goes together."
The restaurant closed during October and November of 2009 while the ownership question remained open. A settlement was reached that concluded Fortress LLC, a corporate entity formed by Chinese investor Eddie Fu, a principal in the Gozzer Ranch development, was the owner.
Eddie's Bar and Grill at Arrow Point is named after Fu. After he died in May 2008, the family began liquidating its U.S. assets.
"They are getting rid of everything they've got in this country," said Gunther, who has several other pieces of the family's real estate listed.
With $50,000 in renovations to the basement restaurant and another $30,000 spent on the upstairs, the current use of the building, which includes All Things Irish on the street level, is best used as is, Gunther said.
"It is an institution in town, without a doubt," he said.
