Looking for a Mr. CHS

COEUR d'ALENE - It's the boys' turn to show their stuff, but the girls are running the show.
Promising a cavalcade of entertainment, a group of 50 senior boys and girls will present the Coeur d'Alene High School's "Mr. CHS" competition Monday.
"No one will regret coming," said Jillian Grutta, 17.
Open to the public, the competition starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.
This year's show, "Legends of Rock," features lots of dancing and a variety of acts the boys have devised themselves.
"Hilarious and entertaining," is how Grutta described it.
She wouldn't disclose more because the students want the audience to be surprised.
A fundraiser for the senior class' end of the year events, Monday's performance includes an appearance by a real rock star.
Pete Rivera, lead singer and drummer of Rare Earth, an early '70s Motown rock band, is making a special appearance.
Some local celebrities will be backing him to perform - teachers Eric Louis, Paul Swartz, and coach Larry Bieber.
Retired teacher Eileen Bieber, Larry's wife, is the volunteer adviser for the show the kids have been preparing for weeks.
The event is coordinated through the student council, and Bieber said CHS was the first school to host a competition in 1994.
"We had people calling us from all over asking how we do it," she said.
The talent show/competition fundraiser has become a mainstay senior class event at schools throughout the region.
It's a farcical take-off on beauty pageants, Bieber said, but it's a "real performance." The kids take it seriously, but they have fun with it, she said.
