Boat launch damage culprit identified

You break it, you bought it.

Kootenai County Parks and Waterways was recently contacted by the mayor of Harrison to repair the boat launch on the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The $800 repair, said Parks and Waterways Director Nick Snyder, was due to an individual who power loaded his boat into a trailer.

"He blew the end of the launch out," Snyder said.

Thanks to a witness, a Kootenai County sheriff's deputy tracked down the Spokane resident responsible and brought him up on charges, Snyder said.

"If the individual pleads guilty, we'll ask him to pay for that repair, because it was Kootenai County residents that paid for it," Snyder said.

He reminded that power loading — or gunning the boat motor to push it onto a trailer — is illegal in the area. - Alecia Warren
