Ivan Hans Hanson, 82

Ivan Hans Hanson, born Feb. 4, 1928, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, in Coeur d’Alene.

Ivan loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him throughout his life. He longed to be in the presence of His Savior. Ivan served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Elizabeth Huisinger in 1952 and lived in Cloquet, Minn., working for Potlatch Corp. for 31 years. He lived in Virginia, Minn., from 1983 to 1986. Ivan married Maxine Heikkila-Wood in 1986 and lived in Ontario, Ore., until 2005 when they moved to Coeur d’Alene, they have resided there for the past five years.

Ivan is preceded in death by his infant son, Paul; sister Mary Sternberg and his brothers, Edward, Arthur, Jim and Harold Hanson.

Ivan is survived by his wife, Maxine Hanson of Coeur d’Alene; son Merlin Hanson (wife Bonnie, daughter Amber) of Chandler, Ariz.; daughters Karen Mattson (husband Duane) of Coeur d’Alene, Judy Dahlman (husband Carl, daughters Lanae and Kylie) of Coeur d’Alene, Elizabeth Hanson of Cloquet, Minn.; brothers, Frank Hanson of Tacoma, Wash., and Paul Hanson of Apache Junction, Ariz.

He’s gone to be with his Maker

Never again to roam,

But to laugh and play and sing with joy

The song of Home Sweet Home.

He loved the Lord with all his heart,

And praised with all his might.

And now He’s resting in His arms

Not again to see dark night.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at the Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens following the service. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
