Charles R. Lines, 79

| June 29, 2010 4:48 AM

Nov. 25, 1930, to June 24, 2010

Charles “Charlie” Lines passed away quietly in Post Falls after a short battle with lung cancer. At his side was his loving wife Erin Gail Lines.

Charlie and Gail moved to North Idaho after retirement, settling in Hayden Lake. Charlie grew up in Ontario, Calif., graduating from Chaffee High School. In subsequent years, he earned an associate’s degree from USC and continued with graduate studies at the University of LaVerne.

After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy serving aboard the destroyer USS Agerholm during the Korean War. Upon separation from the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until accepting a position with the Claremont, Calif., Police Department as a records clerk. During the next 31 years, Charlie held every sworn Police Officer position at the Department including Police Chief for his last 17 years.

Also during this time he and Gail lovingly raised four sons: Jonathan, Rodney, Michael and Todd. He will also be missed by nine grandchildren.

There will be no public services held, however, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
