Anybody want the Elks building?

| June 28, 2010 12:54 PM

The owner of the old Elks building at the corner of Fifth Street and Lakeside Avenue says the property is up for grabs. It is one of several buildings in the city owned by the Bowlin Family Trust.

"Everything is for sale," said Marsha Bowlin.

Empty for more than a decade, the brick building is filled with odds and ends of construction materials, tools and other items.

If anybody wants to make an offer, Bowlin and son Mark are busy getting office equipment and other bits and pieces out of the white house at 805 Sherman Ave., one piece that is not up for sale.

A tenant is scheduled to take possession July 1 and will operate an events center. Most recently it was the offices of Prestige Realty.

Next door, finishing touches are under way for an opening anticipated this week at the Sherman Junction Restaurant, which has been undergoing extensive remodeling since late last summer. Log accents, a white rock water feature at the entrance, and ample use of wood inside are among the improvements. That building is also owned by the Bowlin family.
