A 60-year-old woman is in jail after being removed from a plane for allegedly scuffling with an officer at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport police Sgt. Belinda Nettles says the woman became irate Thursday afternoon when she was told to check an oversized carry-on bag into the luggage compartment on a Frontier Airlines flight.

Nettles says an airport officer was called and found the woman sitting in her seat, refusing to move. Nettles says the woman scratched the officer's neck and face while she was being removed.

The woman, identified as Bickham Linda McWright, was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor battery on a peace officer and remained jailed Friday on $20,000 bail.

Nettles says the scratched officer was treated at a hospital and released.
