Veda R. Sexton, 93

| June 25, 2010 1:59 PM

Veda R. Sexton, 93, resident of Coeur d’Alene, “crossed over” on June 21, 2010. She was born Nov. 6, 1915, in The Dalles, Ore., to Lloyd and Margaret (Hastings) Bolton. Her big sister gave up her own birthday and celebrated a day later, Nov. 7.

Veda was raised in The Dalles, graduating high school there and then attending Willamette University and Oregon State University before marrying Everett Sexton in 1937. They moved to Coeur d’Alene that same year. She was a good homemaker, interior decorator and mother. She also helped in the family business (Jewelry Store). When the Jewelry Store sold, Everett’s job then involved traveling throughout the Northwest. This gave them many opportunities to visit “down home” at The Dalles. Family was always very close to her heart.

Her church has always been a very integral part of her life. She and Everett held almost every office through the years that the church had to offer.

She kept her husband happy and healthy for 70 years. Her hobbies included doll making and dressing them. Her specialty was china painting. Her basement was home to “Veda’s Studio” for several years. Bee Hive Assisted Living was her last earthly home.

They had two children, Eugene Sexton (deceased) and Carol Slater of Coeur d’Alene. She is also survived by six grandsons and one granddaughter, six great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter, and two nieces.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Please sign Veda’s guest registry and view her online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
