Prairie 1

SPOKANE - The Hanford Flames scored four runs in the fifth inning and went on to beat the Prairie Cardinals in a Best of the Northwest tournament game at Central Valley High on Thursday.

"The kids are playing hard," Prairie coach Dustin Frank said. "But we're making our own breaks and had a couple errors cost us three runs. When you play that bad inning, good teams make you pay for it. It's hard to come back from decent pitching."

Cody VanDuyne hit a sacrifice fly to score Bordyn Grieser in the fifth for Prairie (6-11), which faces Twin City at 10 a.m. and the Diamond Players at 12:30 p.m. today at Central Valley High.
