MINNICK: No woodsman is he

| June 25, 2010 10:00 PM

In his guest column of June 18, Congressman Minnick shows perhaps some appreciation for the size of the economic problem facing our country; however, his proposed legislative solutions reveal a remarkable lack of understanding of the underlying causes of the problem. For example, he supports a “debt commission” and a line-item veto.

In response to the monstrous, burgeoning, entangled growth of the Federal government, he proposes to clip daintily away at some leaves and twigs with a set of pinking shears.

In the face of an encroaching jungle of Federal laws, taxes and regulations -- which erode our freedoms and make us slaves to the federal bureaucracy -- I urge Mr. Minnick to:

Repeal Obamacare

Reverse the flow of illegal immigration

Rescind his vote for the radical leader of the House

Restrict of out-of-control Federal agencies such as the FCC and the EPA

Reduce government spending to sustainable levels

Retard the growth of taxes which are about to swamp the public

Reinvigorate the private sector by reducing the undergrowth of uncertainty and stifling over-regulation.

Restore the Federal government to its proper role per the enumerated powers of the U.S. Constitution.

When I hear the R-r-r-r-r of his chain saw working on the roots of our problems, he will (in my opinion) be a better representative of the people he serves.
