Hubert Heppner, 81

| June 24, 2010 4:59 AM

Hubert Heppner, in good cheer on the morning of June 20, 2010, died at home in the presence of his wife and daughters. He was 81 years old.

Born in 1929 in Rosenberg, East Prussia, he fled with his family to West Germany during the War, where they lived as refugees and settled after the War. He served an apprenticeship there in tool and dye. At age 24, he sailed for Canada, where he connected again with his childhood playmate, Sigrid Busch. They married in 1954 and had three daughters.

In 1960, they immigrated to the United States and lived in the Midwest, on the West Coast, and, finally, in North Idaho where they remained. In 1979, they founded Heppner Molds and Engineering, which they sold upon retirement. He was kind, sincere, generous, resolute and always cheerful. He was noble, a great man, worthy of emulation. Hubert, Papa, Opa, we miss you already. We’ll see you soon.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to Twin Lakes Friends Camp, 3068 West Radmer Road, Rathdrum, ID 83858.
