Sting under-13 girls handle Oregon in tournament opener

BERNALILLO, N.M. — Alissa Jolliff scored twice and the Coeur d’Alene Sting under-13 girls defeated Oregon’s United Mercury 3-1 in the opening round of the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championship tournament Monday.

Piper Glover assisted on one of Jolliff’s goals and Megan Lowery also scored for the Sting, who continue Flight A pool play today with a game vs. San Diego Surf White at 12:30 p.m.

U18 boys fall: The Coeur d’Alene Sting U18 boys fell to Arizona (Sereno 92 White) 3-2 in the opening round of the tournament.

The Sting continue pool play in Flight D today at 4 p.m. with a game vs. Nevada (Las Vegas Premier 92).
