Larry Richard O'Leary, 93

| June 19, 2010 7:21 AM

On June 16, 2010, at age 93 our tall, handsome, always charming Dad completed his life’s work to follow our mom, who died July 6, 2009, just after their 68th wedding anniversary.

Recently he struggled mightily with heart failure, liver cancer and failing health. He missed Mom (Eileen) so much this past year, and we all shared his last days. Family and friends were all-important and he will be so missed by his children, Kathie, Larry Patrick (Margaret), Michael (Robin) and Timothy (Carolyn). Grandchildren include: Megan Fairweather, Mark Stapleton, Kevin Stapleton, Jenny Kelly, Amy O’Leary, Alison O’Leary, Riley O’Leary, Patrick O’Leary and four great-grandchildren.

Dad lived a full life with multiple careers, including lumberjack for McGoldrick Lumber, well-digger, and partner in OK Distributing beer wholesalers in Coeur d’Alene; followed by 33 years as an engineer at Boeing, Seattle, both during the war years and from 1956-81.

He and Mom shared happy years of retirement with many friends at Lake Limerick, Shelton, Wash., and Superstition Springs, Apache Junction, Ariz., and at Fernwood Retirement home in Des Moines, Wash., and finally in his home in West Seattle.

Much loved for his warm heart, work ethic, and devotion to family and friends. “He never met a stranger.”

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Holy Family Church, 9622 20th Ave. SW, Seattle, WA 98106.

Remembrances to Jeremiah’s Hope, American Cancer Society or Highline Hospice.
