Six local youths to compete at pitch, hit and run event

SEATTLE - Six boys and girls from North Idaho have qualified to participate in the annual Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Team Championship Competition on Sunday, following the Mariners vs. Cincinnati Reds game at Safeco Field.

They include Kodie Kolden of Post Falls (boys 9-10 age group), Jonny Plum of Hayden (boys 11-12 age group), Madison Fernimen of Dalton Gardens (girls 7-8 age group), Reilly Williams of Coeur d'Alene (girls 9-10 age group), Abby Howard of Post Falls (girls 11-12 age group) and Kylie Rasmussen of Dalton Gardens (girls 13-14 age group).

They join three other Idaho youths, from Boise, Meridian and Caldwell, and 15 other kids from Washington, Oregon and Montana in the baseball skills competition.

Shock activate Geathers, place Meyer on IR

SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock activated defensive lineman Jeremy Geathers from the injured reserve list, and placed quarterback Erik Meyer on injured reserve.

The Shock said Geathers will be eligible to play tonight, when Spokane plays host to Tulsa at 8 at the Spokane Arena.
