Car d'Lane engines already roaring

| June 18, 2010 12:00 PM

The sidewalks along Sherman Avenue are already starting to fill with

lawn chairs as hundreds prepare for the 20th anniversary of Car

d'Lane. The fun begins at 6 p.m. when an estimated 1,000 street rods,

customs and classic cars (and trucks, and who knows what else) make

the annual cruise that starts at Eighth Street and proceeds along

Lakeside Avenue, up Fourth to Garden Avenue, then south on Second,

returning to Sherman Avenue eastbound until 10 p.m.

The fun resumes at 8 a.m. Saturday, when about 500 vehicles will

participate in the show and shine until 4 p.m. when awards are handed

out at the green space at Sixth and Sherman. A street dance with Meet

Revolver, a Beatles tribute band, runs 7-10 p.m., also at the green

space. At Independence Point, you don't have to be a buyer to enjoy

the show at the Silver Auction that runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Rick Thomas
