L-C sweeps Lums

LEWISTON - Kyle Knigge had four hits, including two doubles in the second game for the Lewis-Clark Twins in a 14-10, 11-1 sweep over the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen in North Idaho League action at Harris Field.

Austin Kiefer, Jason Pattis and Chad Nyquist had two hits apiece for the Lumbermen in the first game.

In the second game, Austin Kearns struck out four in a complete-game four-hitter for Lewis-Clark (8-0 NIL, 8-0).

Matt Cade had a double for Coeur d'Alene (9-4, 4-2), which travels to the Palouse Summer Series tournament on Thursday.

POST FALLS - Daniel Whitesitt went 3 for 5 with four RBIs as the Prairie Cardinals "AA" American Legion team defeated the Northwest Dirtbags 12-9 at Post Falls High on Tuesday.

"Daniel came in and did a really good job today," Prairie coach Dustin Frank said. "He really kind of sparked us and gave us the lead in the first inning."

Tyler Shaffer went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and three steals for Prairie (6-4), which travels to face the Boise Gems in the Missoula tournament Thursday at 9 a.m. PDT.

Bryson Smith struck out three in relief to earn the win for Prairie.

"We kind of mixed it up a lot today," Frank said. "(Cody) Vandever shut it down pretty well. For Bryson coming in for the first time this season, he did pretty well."

The Northwest Dirtbags is a team of players from the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene area.
