Alleged vehicle burglar arrested

POST FALLS - A Post Falls 17-year-old boy who allegedly stole credit cards from a vehicle was arrested early Monday.

An officer contacted the teen who was carrying a backpack after midnight after curfew while leaving Black Bay Park.

After agreeing to allow the officer to look inside the backpack, several credit cards under a different name were found.

After telling varying stories about who they belonged to and why they were in his backpack, the boy confessed to stealing them from a female's unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of east 14th Avenue on Friday, Post Falls police Lt. Greg McLean said.

The female had reported the cards stolen.

The teen was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on a felony burglary charge.

It doesn't appear the suspect made any charges on the cards, McLean said.
