Bevacqua bombs Blue Devils

COEUR d'ALENE - Mitch Bevacqua belted home runs in his first two at bats and finished with six RBIs as the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen beat the Spokane Blue Devils in nonleague play at McEuen Field.

"The story today was our offense - Mitch was unreal and Julian Burgess did a good job of leading off today."

Burgess went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Bevacqua added a double, finishing the 7-inning game 4 for 5.

Jordan Anderson started on the hill for the Lums, scatttering four hits and striking out two in his six innings.

Coeur d'Alene (9-2) travels to Lewiston today to play the Lewis/Clark Twins.

POST FALLS - Bryson Smith, Darnell Metcalf and Cody Vandever collected back-to-back-to-back RBIs in the third inning and the Prairie Cardinals held on to beat the Spokane Cannons in nonleague American Legion play at Post Falls High School.

Vandever picked up his first save of the season, striking out a Spokane batter in the top of the seventh to end a bases-loaded threat.

Jake Coleman added an RBI double in the seventh for the Cardinals (5-4), who host the Northwest Dirtbags today at 5 p.m. at Post Falls High.
