Lawrence 'Butch' Anderson, 70

Lawrence “Butch” Anderson, 70, a resident of St. Maries, died May 31, 2010, in Coeur d’Alene. He was born Jan. 12, 1940, to Willard and Elizabeth (Kilwein) Anderson in Coeur d’Alene.

He spent his first few years growing up in Spirit Lake. His later years in Coeur d’Alene, where he attended IHM Academy and graduated from IHM with the Class of 1958. He attended Carroll College in Montana for one year. He then returned to St. Maries to work for Anderson-Vance Lumber Company prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1963. When discharged in 1965, he returned to St. Maries.

He married Beverly on Aug. 16, 1968, in Coeur d’Alene. He and Beverly made their home in Fernwood, where he worked as a Log Scaler for IFI and Stimson Lumber Company. He moved to Cassandra Hills in 1986, and retired from Stimson in 2005. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and pitching horseshoes.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly at the family home in St. Maries; his stepson, Shane Michael of St. Maries; brothers Dick Anderson (Karen) of St. Maries, Donald Anderson (Diana) of Lewiston; brother-in-law Marv Nelson (Peggy) of Fernwood; sister-in-law Jeanette Johnson (Jerry) of Spokane; one granddaughter Sheena Michael and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, with Deacon Floyd Turner officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow services at the St. Maries Elks Lodge.

Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries, is entrusted with arrangements.
