Michael 'Brett' Halterman, 39

Michael Brett Halterman died June 4, 2010, in an automobile accident south of Ritzville, Wash. He was born Dec. 2, 1970, in Durango, Colo., to Michael T. Halterman and Ginger C. (Oliver) Halterman.

Michael spent the first 15 years of his life living in Colorado before coming to Post Falls. Michael was a 1989 graduate of Post Falls High School.

He joined the Army in 1989. After completion of basic training he was deployed to operation Desert Storm in Iraq. Michael was honorably discharged from the Army in 1992, at which time he retuned to Idaho.

Michael spent 15 years working in the well drilling business in Idaho, Washington and Nevada, before starting his own company, River City Pump and Drilling which he proudly operated until his untimely death.

Those that knew Michael will remember him for his wonderful smile and his charismatic personality. He had the ability to light up a room with his quick wit, sense of humor and animated story telling. He was the kind of man that would drop everything to help anyone in any time of need. He was an amazing husband, son, brother, friend and most importantly a father. He took pride in his children and those that knew him will remember how very hard he worked to provide for his family. He was a handyman and wasn’t afraid to take on any type of project and he took pride in his meticulous work. Michael enjoyed boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene, snow and waterskiing, camping, spending time with his kids and most recently coaching and traveling to his son Michael’s boxing matches. 

He is survived by his wife, Staci; two sons Christopher Sollenberger and Michael Scott Halterman; two daughters Tiffany Eustler and Hailee Halterman all of Post Falls; two grandchildren Kadence Stern and Trenton Howe; his father and stepmother, Mike and Faye Halterman of Post Falls; his twin sister, Brandi Hague of Coeur d’Alene; sister Tami Hood of Pullman; grandmother Bernita McHale of Clarkston, Wash.; and grandfather Calvin Halterman of Montrose, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Oliver; his grandmother, Carol Halterman and his brother-in-law, Scott D. Hague.

Viewing will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. Funeral services will be at held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Real Life Ministries, Building 2, in Post Falls, 1866 North Cecil Road, Post Falls. A reception will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers a memorial education fund has been set up and donation can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank under The Michael Brett Halterman memorial fund.
