Inez Ione Engel Smith, 98

Inez Ione Engel Smith, 98, passed away in her sleep on June 2, 2010, at Generations in Rathdrum.

She was born in Aberdeen, S.D., on June 13, 1911, but always preferred to celebrate her birthday on the 14th (Flag Day). She moved to Spokane, Wash., as a young woman and met and married Neal Dow Smith in 1932. They were married for 63 years and lived most of that time in California. She moved to Idaho in 2006 to be near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rose; her husband, Neal; and her sister, Delores.

She is survived by her daughter, Janeal (Tom); grandson Todd (Michelle); granddaughter Kristin; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Cade, Bellamy, Lily and Clayton; her brothers, Albert and Wally (Jane) and numerous nieces and nephews.

No service is planned but she will go to rest with her husband, Neal, in California.
