HAYDEN - A Hayden woman was recently crowned Ms. Idaho Senior America.

Mary Ann Taibi officially received the honor in Emmett at the annual pageant. She will represent seniors in Idaho for a year and will participate in the Ms. Senior America Pageant in October in Atlantic City.

"I look forward to meeting many new people and the challenge and the experience participating in the nationals," she said. "It's going to be a blast."

Taibi won the title, after three years of competing, earlier this year. She was selected by the organization's board.

She and her husband, Sal, have been married more than 50 years. She plans to practice in her music room at home for the national pageant, which includes an interview, evening gown and a 35-second presentation on the contestant's philosophy on life.

The native of Rochester, N.Y., has three children and six grandchildren.

Her greatest accomplishments in life, she said, are her "family and the wonderful relationship I have with them."
