A's hold off Minnesota

Gio Gonzalez struck out four in seven innings to win his third straight decision, and the host Oakland Athletics scored all of their runs with two outs to beat the Minnesota Twins 5-4 on Sunday.

Delmon Young hit a two-run homer off Tyson Ross in the eighth for the Twins, who were tyring for their first sweep in Oakland since July 18-20, 1997.

Orioles 4, Red Sox 3: Baltimore ended its 10-game losing streak in dramatic fashion, getting an RBI single from slumping Nick Markakis in the 11th inning to defeat visiting Boston.

Yankees 4, Blue Jays 3: Robinson Cano hit a tiebreaking, two-run single in the eighth inning and visiting New York rallied past Toronto to avoid a three-game sweep.

The comeback spoiled a fine outing by Blue Jays right-hander Brandon Morrow, a former Seattle Mariner, who didn't allow a run through the first seven innings.

Rays 9, Rangers 5: At Arlington, Texas, John Jaso drove in five runs, Matt Garza won for the first time in a month and Tampa Bay avoided a weekend sweep by Texas.

Royals 7, Tigers 2: Brian Bannister won his career-high fifth straight start, Jose Guillen hit a three-run homer and host Kansas City roughed up Jeremy Bonderman and Detroit.

White Sox 8, Indians 7: Paul Konerko hit a two-run homer and Carlos Quentin added a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning to lead host Chicago over Cleveland.

Former Prairie American Legion standout Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save in 10 chances.

Rockies 3, Diamondbacks 2: At Phoenix, Ubaldo Jimenez became the first 11-game winner in the majors, though his scoreless innings streak ended after a franchise-record 33, and Colorado held on to beat Arizona.

Dodgers 5, Braves 4, 11 inn.: A.J. Ellis hit an RBI single in the 11th inning to lift host Los Angeles over Atlanta.

Mets 7, Marlins 6: Jeff Francoeur hit a tying, three-run homer in the seventh and host New York beat Florida.

Padres 6, Phillies 5, 10 inn.: Adrian Gonzalez homered and drove in three runs, Chase Headley had four hits and visiting San Diego beat Philadelphia.

Reds 5, Nationals 4, 10 inn.: Drew Stubbs hit a two-out single in the 10th inning, driving in Jay Bruce and helping visiting Cincinnati beat Washington.

Giants 6, Pirates 5, 10 inn.: Freddy Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th and visiting San Francisco beat Pittsburgh.

Astros 6, Cubs 3: Carlos Lee hit a two-run homer and Pedro Feliz added a two-run single, helping host Houston beat Chicago.
