DEMOCRACY: Cripes, we said pledge wrong
To Mr. Martens and all other “civics challenged” individuals, please accept my sincere apology for misstating the nature of our “republican” form of government. (Please note the
small “r” that was used in my original letter). I and most other Americans, together with all civicly minded organizations, are clearly mistaken. Henceforth, I must consider your sage guidance.
To all real Americans who love this country, repeat after me:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the “Constitutional Democracy with democratically elected representatives” [“or Plutocracy (Plutarchy)” or “Corporatoracy (Corpocracy)” - but definitely not a “republic”] for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all (or at least for the majority since we are a “Constitutional Democracy . . . where will of the people and the majority rule and all that”).
Doesn’t this make those of you who have been reciting the pledge of allegiance incorrectly for all these years feel foolish? I am so grateful that I now know the truth about our representative system of government.
