DOGS: Practice what you preach

| July 30, 2010 10:00 PM

Monday, July 26, at approximately 5:10 as I exited the Fred Meyer Store on Kathleen Avenue I heard a dog barking. Upon finding the vehicle I immediately noticed the license plate - K1-9! The "predicted" hottest day of the year and one of our own police force leaves their service dog in their vehicle.

Sure YOU parked in the shade and left the windows cracked three inches. I did contact animal control and they said they would enter the information in to the system. If it was so important for you to stop by the store, why did you not take the dog to the police department, which is maybe a half mile away.

I truly hope and pray that some action is taken against this person. I would have reported any other person who would be cruel enough to do this to any animal, but YOU of all people should live up to the standards of your department.
