POLITICS: Assume at your own peril

In reply to Ms. Thagard’s letter of astonishment, regarding the “Republican” gentleman’s displays of ignorance and outrage, I understand her concern and unbelief. What I do not understand, assuming that this dinner/meeting was business in nature, and not political, was her assurance that the man was a Republican. If it was just his tirade about Obama, I’m sure many people are dismayed at his job performance, not just Republicans. I would be equally wrong to assume that Ms. Thagard is a Democrat, just because she voted for Obama.
