FIREWORKS: Two sides, 2 solutions
G’Day, Cd’A. I don’t know how many letters on one subject is allowed but I will write my letter anyway. I am from Australia but now reside in Post Falls; I have also read all the letters and editorials about your 4th of July fireworks debate. Seems like though only one sided, other than the Yobbo quoting that “we are Americans and we like to blow things up,” or something to that point. Well I have come half my life now and live in a little boxed neighborhood, in a little boxed house and I like to blow stuff up but some years I would rather not.
Last year, the biggest fireworks display of the area was one block away from us, so we pulled out the lawn chairs, sat on the front lawn and enjoyed the four-hour show, not even thinking of anyone who may want to sleep. This year however, in the process of escrow, packing and starting a new small business; as you can imagine was quite stressful.
So this year… the biggest fireworks display of the area was “the house across the street.” Now I have the debate going on in my brain. Last year fun, this year bummer.
If there are two sides to the debate we can reason there has to be two answers to appease both sides. Is there not enough land up here, without trees, that people could go and shoot away to their heart’s content? I would go there, or I could choose not to. Then the people left over who still must shoot them off in the neighborhoods would be easier to catch and fine, steeply.
I am not allowed to vote as I am not a citizen, though I do have a voice, and right now I need some sleep so FIGURE IT OUT, quit just talking about it. As I have been part of this community for many years now, it is the same thing every year!
