KILO: Lesson lost on dog's owner
I am writing this letter out of anger over what I just experienced. On July 2, you ran a story about the dog Kilo who was run over on 3rd and Walnut. Although it was wrong for the person who hit the dog to leave the scene, Kilo’s owners clearly were in the wrong by not keeping the dog restrained. The owner wanted to tell her story because, “People need to pay more attention to what is out there...we can maybe get more people to pay more attention to their surroundings, and stop speeding when they’re driving down the street.”
Well, who needs to pay attention? On Saturday at 8:30 pm, I was driving down 3rd Street, going the speed limit (or a little under) and I almost hit Kilo as he ran (as best he can) out in front of me and crossed the street. There were no adults or children anywhere in the vicinity. He was obviously left alone to wander around.
What happens to Kilo is 100 percent her responsibility and she still has not learned a lesson from it.
