Evelyn Edith Stafford, 89

Evelyn Edith Stafford, 89, was born in New York, N.Y., on Jan. 13, 1921, and died in Coeur d'Alene on July 12, 2010.

She moved to the Inland Northwest in 1953 with her husband and 2-year-old son, settling in the Spokane Valley. They continued to reside in Spokane with their son and daughter until moving to Pinehurst.

After retirement Evelyn and her husband moved to Post Falls. For the past eight years Evelyn lived at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene. Evelyn was a bookkeeper for Senior Citizens, a devoted mother, a homemaker and a longtime community volunteer for Camp Fire Girls, Red Cross and Senior Citizen organizations. Her quilting, basket making and sewing projects brought joy to many people, and she will be missed by all who met her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Thomas Stafford and is survived by her children, Daniel Thomas Stafford Jr. of Hayden Lake and Melinda Ann Stafford of Spokane, Wash.

A rosary will be held for Evelyn at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, to be followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. Donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho.
