Kathie Lynn Gilbert, 58

Kathie Lynn Gilbert, 58, passed away July 8, 2010, at her home in Post Falls with her family by her side. Kathie was born in Coeur d’Alene on Dec. 29, 1951, to her parents James P. and Clarisse I. Johnson.

Kathie graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1970, and two days later, married her high school sweetheart, Richard D. Gilbert on June 6, 1970.

Kathie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Back Country ATV. Her many hobbies and interests included softball, motorcycling, ATVing, fishing, bowling and camping. She also enjoyed picking on the guitar and other musical instruments. She also loved to play acie deuce with her mom and she could play a mean game of pinball.

Kathie was the caretaker of the family, always making sure everyone else was taken care of, before her thinking of herself. Kathie’s profession was as a plastic injection mold polisher for 25 years. Before retiring, Kathie had an independent business for the last 12 years from her home.

Kathie was preceded in death by her son, Baby Boy Gilbert and her father, James P. Johnson and her four grandparents.

She is survived by her husband, Richard and son Rick James Gilbert and wife Sabrina; daughter Amanda Huckaby; brother Mike and Kim Johnson; grandchildren, Toby and Cassie Huckaby and Vada and Solly Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Silver Beach Resort in Spirit Lake. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
