KIDDIES: Parade a plus for locals

| July 9, 2010 10:00 PM

The Fourth of July kiddie parade was a great success. There were tons of children decked out in their parade gear marching down Sherman. Community events like these are what make me so thankful to live in such a wonderful town as ours.  I love hearing the tales of people from town who did this as children themselves.

I think that it was bit confusing and perhaps even inconvenient for the parade to have been on Friday instead of Saturday as it usually is. I am sure that there are parents who had to work whose kids did not get to participate. I also wish that more had been written on it in the paper.  I had looked in the paper and even on the town website and found nothing on the parade or its theme until the day of the parade. All the city website gave was the date.

Also, the streets were not blocked off very well.  I watched three cars pull out across Sherman in front of children marching.

At any rate, despite a few flaws, this was great fun to watch and participate in. I look forward to many kiddie parades to come!
