JAIL: Few jobs behind those bars

| July 6, 2010 1:51 PM

Did you know that if you do not have a job and you are on probation, you could go to jail? Am I the only one who knows about the job shortage? And if you have a “record,” getting a job can be extra hard.

I’m sure not many care if they go to jail  or not. Well, do you care about how much you pay in taxes? This thing about sending them to jail for not having a job is kind of like debtors prison. I can practically guarantee they won’t find a job in jail. So we are punishing them for having bad luck to be looking for a job in these days of a very low job market.

Most of these kids are in jail for making stupid choices and they are loved by their families but just can’t afford a lawyer. So instead of being supported by their families they are supported by huge amounts of tax dollars while they sit in jail. Somebody help me understand why our money is wasted like this!
