IRONMAN: CdA volunteers the best

| July 6, 2010 1:53 PM

I just wanted to write and thank the people and volunteers of Coeur d'Alene for the wonderful Ironman event my husband and I enjoyed this year. We have been to a few events but the people and the gorgeous town of Coeur d'Alene keep us returning to this event.

The volunteers are the best on race day. They make the very long journey for every athlete seem at least a little more humane. We saw so many smiles and heard so many words of encouragement it was unbelievable.

You should be proud of this wonderful community. We were proud to bring our two children and my brother with us and have them share the awesome experience we always have.

It was a difficult day for us both. I did not finish due to a bad fall and my husband too, had a bad fall but did manage to finish. He always talks about how wonderful it is to see so many people at the finish line cheering the athletes, giving high fives and just a few more words of encouragement to get the athlete across the finish.

To us, having such a wonderful venue is worth the hard work and monetary effort required to make it to Coeur d'Alene every year. Now, if you could only do something about the chilly water temperature.
